A record of paying attention.

Provenance of Design is Rin Chu’s personal knowledge base: a growing collection of product reviews, design experiments, essays, books, and digital resources.

How the work connects

I’m a UX and product designer, systems thinker, writer, and independent builder. This site records how I observe, think, make, and publish. A product I use can become a design question; a question can become an essay, an experiment, or something I build.

Perspective & method

I look at how things work in everyday use: their hierarchy, interaction logic, language, emotional tone, and the systems around them. Projects and development logs keep the decisions and revisions visible alongside the finished work.

Personal experience, design interpretation, research, and testing with other people are different kinds of evidence. I try to keep those distinctions clear.

Disclosure

My practice includes AI-assisted development and image-making. Project records identify that involvement where relevant, and generated illustrations are distinct from screenshots of working products.

Objects includes personal observations and product reviews. Affiliate information appears alongside relevant shopping links. The Store contains my own resources; Gumroad handles checkout and delivery.
