Milestone 01 / Provenant Studio

An archive needs room for unfinished things.

The private record and the public story shouldn’t have to be the same object.

A project produces more than its final interface. There are notes that were useful for a week, images that changed the direction, and explanations that only make sense beside an earlier version. Some of that material needs to survive without becoming a public milestone.

Provenant Studio and this public collection serve different needs. The working archive accepts partial material. A public dispatch selects a change and gives it context. A future retrospective can draw on both without flattening them together.

A meaningful milestone is a change in understanding, form, scope, or direction. It doesn’t have to coincide with a release, and it isn’t automatically every day on which work happened.

Keeping these layers distinct makes an honest public account possible. The uncertain material remains available, but a reader isn’t asked to sort the entire archive before understanding the project.
